If you haven’t heard of GPT-3 yet then you should check it out. It is an impressive AI program that can generate very convincing text from prompts given to it. GPT-3 is currently closed to all but researchers.

There is however a completely open source alternative that is available to anyone. Below is an example of something it wrote in response the two sentences I provided it about Kermit the Frog.

Kermit the frog has had a long and illustrious career as a member of both Sesame Street and the Muppets. Now in old age he is set to retire from TV and film. He has also had a lengthy relationship with Tina Fey, who plays his human girlfriend, Liz, in most of the Muppets movies. It’s a relationship that’s been the source of much debate, but what actually happened?

They started dating after Kermit the Frog (Gary Marshall) and Miss Piggy (Carol Burnett) were kicked out of the stage musical The Muppet Show in 1979. Marshall, who played the role of Kermit, was heartbroken to learn that the cast was being disbanded and that his star would be heading off to the wilderness to be a household name on prime time television. Burnett, who played Miss Piggy, decided to stick around for a while, and so did Kermit. But their relationship was doomed from the beginning.

After a brief affair Kermit and Miss Piggy partied it up until they eventually got back together (which didn’t last long). They were caught kissing by fellow Muppets creator and boss Jim Henson (who played the role of Kermit) and were quickly paired up. They did the traditional Muppet courtship song “The Muppets Rule” which set the tone for a loveless and ill-fated relationship that lasted till her death.
